Israeli Car Accident Claim

Trusted80/100
Before deciding whether to install, talk to the skill

Walks you through the aftermath of a car accident in Israel: what to do and document at the scene, which insurance to claim under, and why bodily injury is compensated regardless of fault while property damage follows fault. Explains the difference between compulsory, comprehensive, and third-party cover, how to fill the accident report, the time limits, and when Karnit applies (hit-and-run or uninsured driver). Use right after an accident or when filing an insurance claim. Do NOT use for registration, the annual test, or insurance shopping (use israeli-vehicle-manager), or for serious injury litigation that needs a lawyer.

The Problem

A car accident in Israel is stressful and the rules are counter-intuitive: bodily injury is compensated with no regard to fault, while property damage is entirely fault-based, and people routinely claim from the wrong policy or miss the steps an insurer later uses to reject. Many drivers do not know a police confirmation is required for the claim, that a fund (Karnit) covers hit-and-run and uninsured cases, or how long they have to act. This skill walks you through the scene and routes the claim to the right place.

When to Apply

  • Right after an accident, when you need to know what to document and do at the scene
  • When someone is injured and you need to know who to claim from (hint: compulsory insurance, regardless of fault)
  • When your car is damaged and you are unsure whether to claim from your own comprehensive or the other party
  • In a hit-and-run or uninsured-driver case, to check whether Karnit applies
  • When the insurer rejects or underpays and you want to know how to escalate

Try These Prompts

What do I do now?

I just had a car accident, nobody is badly hurt. Walk me through what to document at the scene and the next steps.

Who do I claim from?

Another driver hit me, my car is damaged and my passenger has neck pain. Who do I claim the injury from and who the car damage?

Hit and run

Someone hit my car and drove off without leaving details. What are my options, and when does Karnit come in?

Fill the report

Help me fill the accident report for the insurer, and explain where to send it and what to attach.
