- 3In Claude.ai, open Customize > Skills, click Upload, and pick the ZIP. Validation is automatic.
- 4Open a fresh conversation. The skill is available immediately, and Claude loads it whenever the topic matches.

- As of February 2026 the Skills feature is also open to free-tier users, not only to Pro/Max/Team/Enterprise. An active claude.ai account is enough to start.

What is a skill for Claude.ai?
A skill is a bundle of instructions and supporting scripts that teaches Claude to perform a specific task better. For instance, a skill can teach Claude to issue Israel Tax Authority-compliant invoices, or summarize a legal contract in the format an Israeli lawyer expects.
Do I need a paid plan?
No. In February 2026 Anthropic opened the Skills feature to the free plan as well. The same skills that work on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise also work on a free account. Paid plans give you a higher monthly conversation quota and access to the strongest models, but the feature itself is identical.
Will the skill share my data?
The skill itself runs only inside your conversation. It doesn't send data outward and doesn't connect to our servers. All it does is add context to the model — exactly the same as if you typed those instructions yourself in every chat.
